“That was brilliant." Essential Collaboration with Birmingham City Council Sept 2022

Well, it’s official, I’m definitely sensing which local authorities are my favourite! I’m looking at you Birmingham City Council (BCC). Yes, I know, that reads as rather glib, but check out the lovely feedback that I received from the course I delivered today. Over the last few months, I have been delivering Collaborative Working to managers and supervisors from BCC Future Leaders Programme. I have particularly enjoyed tinkering and editing the training to meet the needs of the learners. This is of course based on my own reflections and the feedback from the learners. The feedback was always 100 positive, I think that the course is now truly cooking with gas, what an apt turn of phrase – (or maybe not!) and really demonstrates my commitment to ensuring the staff receive contemporary, up to date training.

The new training films – starring myself and the ever-effervescent Charlotte Bates (pictured above) went down a storm. There was lots of laughter and also an awful lot of knowing glances as each learner recognised the behaviours that Charlotte and I were highlighting. Although the Lingo Bingo film took FOREVER to film, it certainly hits the nail on the head.

As always a huge thank you to all at BCC for continuing to utilise my skills and more importantly continuing to upskill the staff so that the future leaders of the council are value based, solution focused, assertive and pro-active. Onward – ever onward!

Here are the collated feedback comments for you to peruse:

“It was a really useful workshop; I’ll definitely be using the DESC approach to difficult conversations and will be more mindful of paraphrasing when holding 1 to 1 meetings with staff to improve communications.

Very enjoyable and informative in summary!”
