Throughout October, I have been delivering my bespoke, Adult Social Care specific, ‘Effective Factual Recording’ course. The course was commissioned by Gina Grimes, a pretty inspirational Principal Social Worker & Safeguarding lead at Stoke on Trent City Council (SOTCC). Gina sees the importance of training and how to embed BETTER practice within social care and beyond.
I created the course with the help of Melanie from SOTCC and people thoroughly enjoy the interactive nature of what could be a very dry topic and especially like the training films that I have created for the sessions. Again, we meet Thomasina and poor Joan, who seems to have the weight of the world on her shoulders. The ongoing saga of Joan continues apace. I love how people have become very invested in Joan’s life, across several training courses. All down to the sterling work of my wonderfully talented friend Gwyn Hill. A truly inspiring woman.
I interviewed a raft of people for the course, including the very popular Clinton, Adrian, Sarah and Margaret. They all speak candidly of their involvement with adult social care due to their living with learning disabilities and sometimes being seen as ‘at risk.’ Learning from their voices is what it is all about. They can tell their tale far better than I ever could.
